An ambitious restoration project in the heart of a city and a region
In 2024, the old St Columbanus Abbey fund a new impetus. Located in the southern Vosges, this remarkable location is perfect to host the theme of « the sustainable new rurality ».
The magic of the place was immediate, and the abbey still inspires immense respect today. Very soon, meetings with elected officials and local associations, revealed that financial support was urgent and necessary to secure the abbey and make it accessible for all visitors. The goal is clear : to preserve this heritage and to develop a project that would have direct benefits for the town and the Pays de Luxeuil.
A project looking to the future
The primary objective is to restore, secure, insulate, make accessible, and equip this city-center abbey, steeped in extraordinary European history, so that it can thrive and self-finance through a new economic project.
More than fifty volunteers and employees have become project leaders. All teams working on the project aim to complete this renovation by spring 2026.
