Preservation of heritage
The Abbey of Saint-Colomban in Luxeuil-les-Bains, a historical and architectural gem, needs your support. Located in the heart of Haute-Saône, this abbey, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, bears witness to a rich cultural and spiritual past. Today, several structural problems are threatening this iconic site.
By participating in this project, you are not only contributing to the preservation of a unique heritage, but also to the rebirth and development of a place dedicated to a new sustainable rurality, rooted in culture, tourism and the local economy.
A major project
The restoration project is divided into several key stages:
Restoration of the chapel
The chapel has been severely weakened by water infiltration and structural damage. The ground floor was condemned, making the site inaccessible to the public.
Succesfully done in September 2025 : Consolidate the south façade beams, renovate the floor and restore heritage features such as stained glass windows and painted coats of arms.
Enhancement of the convent buildings
The monastic complex, a unique example of Columbanian monasticism, is a major historical asset. Despite its solid appearance, the building suffers from several problems and must be brought up to safety and comfort standards.
Objective: Replace all or part of the 288 windows that have
closing defects and allow water infiltration, insulate the buildings and make all parts accessible to all.
Ultimately, the objective is to create a guided tour, art and cultural visits to enrich the regional tourist offer.
Investing in the local economy
According to a study by the Fondation du Patrimoine, every euro invested in heritage generates €21 in economic benefits.
